Sonia Patel named new NHSX chief information officer

Sonia Patel has been named the new Chief Information Officer for NHSX.

Patel is currently joint CIO at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals Foundation Trust.

NHSX confirmed her appointment on 28 February. Patel will take up her role in the summer.

Patel is also a member of the Shuri Network, which promotes the visibility of black and minority ethnic women in digital health.

Speaking at the launch of the network at Digital Health Summer Schools in 2019 Patel spoke of hitting a “glass ceiling” when she got to a certain point in her career and the need to change that for future generations.

Patel will be speaking at Rewired 2020 on 4 March at London Olympia. You can catch her in our CCIO and CIO theatre from 4.45pm in our ‘Leave no-one behind on digital’ session. There’s still time to register if you haven’t, you can register online up until midday on 3 March at the door on 4 March.
