Royal Cornwall picks Servelec

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has chosen Servelec to provide a new patient administration system,

The company announced the southern trust had picked its Oceano PAS product to deploy across its three hospitals. The product would include patient flow and bed management functions.

The deal marks are rare foray in the acute care for Servelec, which has a far bigger presence in the mental health, with its RiO electronic patient record, and social care, with Mosaic.

Royal Cornwall already runs an Oceano Emergency Department system, installed in 2011, which will be upgraded as part of the PAS deployment. The Digital Health intelligence database shows it also runs a range of other systems, including an IMS Maxims EPR, and a legacy IHCS PAS.

The news PAS is expected to be deployed in autumn 2017.

Philips develops healthcare lighting

Philips have released a new lighting product that the company claims will help patients sleep. The system uses “innovative dynamic lighting recipes” to mimic normal daylight patterns in keeping with a patient’s biorhythms. The product is also meant to improve staff satisfaction.

Lumeon in deal for online diagnostics

One Stop Doctors, a private diagnostics and treatment service, has picked Lumeon’s Care Pathway Management to help automate parts of its patients’ pathways. The product will combine clinical and administrative systems to provide an overview of the patient’s journey.

Elsevier in deal with HSS

Medical information services company Elsevier has entered into a reselling agreement with Health Software Solutions, to sell Elsevier’s imaging diagnostic decision support tool, STATdx. HSS, a radiology information system supplier, will sell STATdx alongside its own RIS product CRIS to NHS radiology departments.

Cambridge Computing collaborates on imaging software

Cambridge Computed Imaging has struck a deal with Polish software company Future Processing to provide software for the display and analysis of medical images. The companies have been working together since 2005, including developing the TexRad product, but the latest development will be see both companies expand their joint team focused on developing new imaging products.

New mobile printer for healthcare

Printing company Brother UK has released a new range of mobile printers for healthcare. The RJ-2000 printers are designed to be used in stock control and logistics, for printing label from mobile devices, over Bluetooth or wifi. The printers are compatible with android, iOS and other common software platforms.
