Myhealthlondon puts GPs on the map

GP compare site Myhealthlondon has published a map showing which GP practices are offering online services such as patient access to records.

The website, launched last December, shows how London practices are performing against national standards such as childhood immunisations and cervical screening, as well as how they compare with other practices in the capital.

This month, a new “Google map” function has been added to the site which shows at a glance which practices offer certain on-line services, such as repeat prescriptions or appointment bookings.

They can also see whether their practice offers on-line access to their GP medical record. The government has pledged that all patients will be able to see their health record online by 2015.

Five new outcome standards for GPs to see how well their practice is doing have also been published, adding to the 21 standards already onsite.

The new information focuses on patient outcomes around changing GP practice, cancer, mental illness and end of life care.

LondonGP Dr Phil Koczan helped develop the website and said he was pleased to see the new outcome standards published.

“This follows considerable work and agreement last year by clinicians and healthcare professionals from across the capital,” he said.

“By raising awareness of patient outcomes in relation to these key areas, GP practices can identify where they can improve the services they provide. Patients will also benefit as they can easily identify which practices in their area offers on-line facilities.”
