TPP makes advance on London

The vast majority of GP practices in NHS Hounslow are to move to TPP’s SystmOne, the company has announced.

Fifty two out of 55 GP practices in the primary care trust have decided to move to SystmOne since late August. Ten practices have already gone live and TPP expects the remainder to do so by the end of 2011.

The company has also deployed SystmOne GP to some practices in NHS Hillingdon, which neighbours NHS Hounslow, and says it is seeing “considerable interest” from other PCTs in the capital.

Dr Talac Mahmud, a partner at the FirstCare Practice in Hounslow, which switched to SystmOne in December, said the change meant better functionality for clinical and administrative staff.

He added: “Despite initial reservations by the practice around changing clinical systems, it has been an overwhleming success.”

TPP said the software was being supplied to practices in Hounslow under the GP Systems of Choice initiative.

The company supplies GP systems to practices in the North, Midlands and East of England under a contract with local service provider CSC.

It also looks set to work with CSC on deploying child and community health systems to the South of England.

Last month,  TPP announced that it expects to become the second largest supplier of GP systems in England.
