Two trusts use iSoft pathology tool

ISoft has announced the first UK sales of its CorVu laboratory management reporting tool.

North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust and St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust have both taken the system, which iSoft has been able to introduce to the UK because of a partnership with US based developers Rocket Software.

The two companies formed a strategic partnership in 2009 to develop Business Intelligence and strategic management applications across iSoft’s portfolio.

North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust will use CorVu to analyse department statistics to improve its turnaround times for pathology tests at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven.

Its implementation of CorVu follows a recent upgrade to its iSoft laboratory information system, i.Laboratory.

St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust will use CorVu to replace a management reporting system that has not been able to keep pace with the 697,000 orders and 7.5m pathology tests it conducts each year.

Its implementation is part of a wider overhaul of laboratory systems at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London, and coincides with a five year deal with iSoft that includes an upgrade to the latest iLaboratory software and new hardware.

St George’s healthcare has used i.Laboratory since 1994 and has partnered with iSoft on several developments, including a blood transfusion module. It will now be collaborating on further developments of the CorVu product.

“As the UK’s largest provider of laboratory information systems, we have a responsibility to constantly innovate to help our customers meet ever-demanding efficiency, quality and cost targets,” said Adrian Stevens, managing director of iSoft’s UK and Ireland business.
