McKesson provides PACS to CircleBath

  • 28 June 2010

McKesson has signed a strategic partnership with Circle to provide its picture archiving and communication system to its private facilities in Bath.

The new Circle hospital in Bath, which opened in March, will use McKesson’s PACS to provide an entirely filmless and paperless environment.

All images will be stored centrally and provide instant, secure access to clinicians who will be able to share and use information at the point of care from any location, including their home.

Simon Waddington, partner and radiography lead at CircleBath, said: “It is rich in functionality, reflecting our ambition to utilise the best technology to deliver the best possible patient experience.

“It is easy to use and has many benefits over other products I have used. These include: a single user interface for general administration tasks; a standard appearance and system of use between the radiology reporting and web user front-ends; a web tool that allows writing, editing and verifying of reports through remote access; the customisation of hanging protocols; and integration into the front-end of other third party products.”

McKesson says the PACS integrates with other CircleBath systems, including the recently implemented patient administration system from System C and the electronic patient record system from Alert; the first of its kind to go-live in the UK.

Since the go-live, the hospital has implemented new modalities and requested configuration changes which have been fully supported by McKesson’s support service.

Waddington added: “Circle’s clinicians will quickly seek demonstrable benefits from the McKesson system, including clinical satisfaction, operational efficiency and significant time and cost savings.”

Rod O’Reilly, president of McKesson’s medical imaging group, said: “McKesson is pleased to offer our proven capabilities to the UK and are excited to be part of a successful partnership with Circle.”
