Royal Marsden awards £1.2m LIMS contract

  • 8 January 2010

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has awarded a contract worth almost £1.2m to Technidata for a new laboratory information management system.

The ten year contract will cover the supply and maintenance of the LIMS, which will also integrate with the The Royal Marsden’s hospital information system.

The trust awarded the contract at the end of 2009 after a tender process that started in June 2007.

A spokesperson told E-Health Insider: “We selected Technidata after completing an OJEU [Official Journal of the European Union] tender procurement under a competitive dialogue procedure.

"Technidata were therefore the top scoring supplier based on our weighted award criteria which is part of the OJEU process.”

The spokesperson added: “The importance of having such a system includes ensuring compliance with current standards, enhancing clinical service provision, providing value for money, providing high quality clinical information and statistical data for financial and operation use, audit and research, and reducing – and where possible eliminating – clinical risks.”

The trust is now planning the implementation of the system, which will be rolled out over the next year.
