Workshop to focus on ambient assistive living
- 28 August 2008
Applications are open to participate in a two-day joint expert workshop examining ambient assistive living to be run in Brussels, 25-26 September.
Jointly organised by the Ambient Assistive Living (AAL) Association and Ambient Assistive Living Alliance the workshop is aimed to help shape future policy. Those interested in attending are asked to submit an application to participate.
The event, partly supported by the European Commission, is intended to help create a comprehensive vision of the R&D and policy needs for ambient assisted living technologies. The intention is to identify strategies that may serve as a roadmap for industry, service providers, the research community and policy makers.
In addition, the organisers of the workshop say they hope it will support the building of an AAL community who may potentially work together as project consortia in the future.
The workshop will consist of keynote speeches and four consecutive round table discussions, focusing on older people at home; aging in society; aging at work; and AAL community building.
Experts are asked to prepare short statements on different aspects of AAL technology trends in the different user domains, social-institutional aspects and R&D support and AAL community building.
Numbers of places at the workshop are limited to 80. Interested experts are asked to apply for participation (including a description of their proposed contribution) on the AALIANCE registration website.
