Nottingham buys CliniSys chemo prescribing solution

  • 23 April 2007

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust has chosen the CliniSys Oncology ChemoCare chemotherapy prescribing solution for three of its hospital sites, the software has been funded by NHS Connecting for Health.

The solution will provide a multi pharmacy application for adults, haematology and paediatrics across the Nottingham City Hospital, Queens Medical Centre and Kingsmill Hospital.

ChemoCare is a comprehensive prescribing and management system which supports the highly specialised areas of prescribing for adult and paediatric, solid and haematological oncology.

The trust needed a robust and proven solution that could be implemented quickly to replace their current legacy system.

They chose ChemoCare for its unique ability to meet both the National OBS for chemotherapy prescribing and the specific local needs of the trust.

Nottingham Cancer Centre’s business change manager, Jo Hutchinson, said: “I would like to thank CliniSys for their dedication and commitment in helping us to turn things around so quickly to enable the Trust to meet what have been extremely challenging timescale deadlines.”

CliniSys Oncology’s managing director, David Newell, said: “I am delighted that NUH have chosen to purchase ChemoCare with capital funding from NHS Connecting for Health announced under Gateway 6654. This competitive procurement once again demonstrates the power of a solution developed in partnership with the NHS to meet the specific needs of cancer services today.”
