Trust sets up employee benefit website

Westminister PCT has launched ‘It’s All About You’, a website for staff personalised to show employee benefits, holiday and pension entitlements.

Karen Broughton, director of HR and corporate affairs at Westminster PCT, said: "Staff were saying they didn’t know what they were entitled to, or how much their whole remuneration package was worth. Now they can look online at a breakdown of their package, including salary, London weighting and add-ons such as how much the PCT spends on their training and development, annual leave and pension."

"This adds up to thousands of pounds more than their base salary and staff have a better idea of the true cost of the Trust’s investment in them."

The site is available both on the PCT’s intranet and externally and can be accessed anywhere with a username and password. As well as showing information about benefits, users can also book discounted holidays, shopping and healthcare using the site.

‘It’s All About You’ was set up in conjunction with Thomson Online Benefits, an appointed representative of AWD Consultancy. The site uses a system developed by Thomson called ‘Perquisite’, which runs off Microsoft .NET and allows HR and payroll staff access to update employee details and benefit selections.

Broughton added that the site was set up to help the PCT become a more attractive employer: "Many private sector organisations have been offering online employee benefit schemes for years. We’ve learnt from them and ‘It’s All About You’ brings us into line with them and makes them more competitive.

"More importantly staff can see and access all their benefits every minute of every day and can therefore save themselves money every day."

Plans for the future of the scheme include a paperless holiday planner. Over 1000 staff in Westminster PCT are covered by the system, which has been publicised using newsletters and roadshows.
