ClinPhone voted best outsourcing deal

Software that enables patients taking part in clinical trials to report data over the phone has won a major industry award.

ClinPhone won the Best e-Business/IT Solution category in the 2005 European Outsourcing Awards for its electronic Patient Reported Outcomes solution (ePRO).

The software collects data from patients over the phone, offering an alternative to recording in PDA diaries, and also exchanges data in real-time with other clinical databases.

When patients call in they are taken rapidly through the ‘diary’ details the researchers need to give or receive using interactive voice technology. In addition, researchers can view all the patient data through secure web or faxed reports.

ClinPhone says the award not only acknowledges its innovative ePRO solution, but also its ability to effectively support study logistics. Customers can be provided with technology which can be integrated with other clinical trial technology such as electronic data capture, clinical trials management software and randomisation and medication supply management services. The ePRO system has been used to support over 200 trials.

Patrick Hughes, director of marketing and strategic business development said: "It is a great honour to be presented with this award, particularly as it not only recognizes the product itself but also ClinPhone’s ability to provide clients with a practical but powerful technology solution which is delivered directly to the patient.”

The awards organised by CEC Media, were presented in Madrid last week and was judged by an international panel who took into consideration aspects such as the execution of strategies, the deployment of technology and the effective uptake by users and operators.
