GSK launch Respiratory Channel with Doctors.net.uk
- 22 November 2001
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is to support the launch of an online respiratory channel for chest medicine specialists and GPs on Doctors.net.uk, the UK doctor-only online community.
The new channel has been developed to provide doctors with interactive information on respiratory medicine.
The channel will host a number of online resources, including eContinuing Medical Education, online conferencing facilities and a range of patient support materials, which doctors will be able to download and use in their consultations.
Each month topical features developed by independent healthcare professionals will be posted on the site – and will be linked to a respiratory discussion forum where doctors will have the opportunity to share comment and experiences.
The new GSK respiratory channel will also offer a medical information service, providing doctors with direct access to the medical information team and medical representatives at GSK. This will enable doctors to email queries, order support materials or request a visit from a local representative, as well as access other relevant disease and treatment information.
Sean Craig, Internet Project Manager, GSK, comments, “The channel will provide doctors with all the information they want in one place, delivered with the added benefit of independent credibility. The respiratory channel is the start of a programme of services to doctors via Doctors.net.uk which we expect to expand in the future.”
Doctors.net.uk claims to currently have over half of UK GPs registered on the doctors.net.uk site, with almost 1,000 chest medicine specialists.
"The launch of the respiratory channel presents an excellent opportunity to attract even more practitioners in respiratory medicine to the site, and builds on our existing range of online services for the medical community,” commented Dr Neil Bacon, chief executive of Doctors.net.uk.
