InterSystems TrakCare implemented by Digital Health and Care Wales
- 1 May 2024
Digital Health and Care Wales has announced that it will implement InterSystems TrakCare Lab Enterprise across the country, enabling NHS Wales to offer more efficient, streamlined pathology services to patients.
The hosted lab solution will be used in 23 laboratories across 13 separate hospitals and nine health boards.
InterSystems TrakCare is a health information system and electronic medical record for delivering and managing patient care across a healthcare enterprise organisation with a single patient record. It was deployed by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust for two high-risk antibiotics back in November 2021.
NHS Wales has been a customer of InterSystems for over 10 years. By moving to a fully hosted managed service from InterSystems they will benefit from a 24/7/365 support function. They will also receive the set-up, servicing and maintenance of the hosting infrastructure, removing the need for dedicated staff to manage the system. This will allow healthcare services resources to be reallocated to enhance care delivery in other areas.
According to InterSystem, its laboratory solution can enhance the accessibility and data sharing capabilities of Wales Pathology Service, by achieving greater levels of interoperability. It is also confident it can facilitate the establishment of an all Wales, fully standardised pathology network service for lab across the country.
Colin Henderson, country manager UK&I at InterSystems, said: āServing as a highly configurable solution for NHS Wales over the last 10 years, our InterSystems TrakCare Lab solution has proven itself to be a stable and reliable platform delivering efficiencies across the entire ecosystem; something they will continue to experience as they transition onto the new hosted TCLE platform.
āWe are looking forward to continuing to support Wales on their transformation journey for many years to come.ā
