❓ Did you know that?

Digital health tools continue proliferate, making it more crucial than ever for healthcare leaders to be discerning in their digital health decisions.

On average, the number of digital health tools that providers used increased from 2.2 in 2016 to 3.8 in 2022, according to a survey from the American Medical Association (AMA). And 2022 saw the second-highest level of digital health spending and digital health dealmaking in the past decade, with the number of deals in 2022 (572) more than triple the number in 2012 (146). With all of these options at their disposal, how can healthcare leaders make wise selections, asks a report from Healthcare Executive Intelligence.

📖 What we’re reading

The integration of Quality Management System (QMS) principles into the life cycle of development, deployment, and utilisation of machine learning (ML) and AI technologies within healthcare settings holds the potential to close the AI translation gap by establishing a robust framework that accelerates the safe, ethical, and effective delivery of AI/ML in day-to-day patient care. Healthcare organisations (HCOs) can implement these principles effectively by embracing an enterprise QMS analogous to those in regulated industries. By establishing a QMS explicitly tailored to health AI technologies, HCOs can comply with evolving regulations and minimize redundancy and rework while aligning their internal governance practices with their steadfast commitment to scientific rigor and medical excellence, NPJ Digital Journal reports.
