Liverpool Women’s NHS FT first to go live with MEDITECH Expanse EPR

Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has gone live with MEDITECH Expanse, a full-scale, intuitive and interoperable electronic patient record (EPR).

The EPR’s cloud-based systems drive better outcomes and enable treatment across care settings. Expanse delivers mobile, customisable solutions that promote usability and improve efficiency for staff.

The trust has moved to MEDITECH Expanse EPR 27 years on from when it first went live with MEDITECH Magic.

Matt Connor, chief operating officer at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, said: “Our EPR programme known as digiCare has implemented MEDITECH Expanse EPR, representing another major milestone on the Liverpool Women’s digital journey. MEDITECH Expanse will bring many benefits to our staff, patient care and overall experience.

“The system has been built directly in line with our trust’s processes and procedures. Thorough research and engagement has been carried out with each department within the trust to ensure that all current and future processes have been mapped.”

He added: “We are in the very early days of the implementation and are working with teams to ensure we get this right now and for the future.

“A significant amount of hard work has gone into the transition to MEDITECH Expanse through the digiCare programme, with thanks to our talented digital team, trust staff, MEDITECH and other partners including CereCore. Our digital journey will now continue and will only strengthen as we roll out new and improved features.”

Consultancy firm CereCore was instrumental in the collaboration process and helping to roll out the EPR at the trust. “What began as an effort to assist with the build phase grew into supporting their go live too,” Daniel Eyre, vice president of business development at CereCore said.

MEDITECH confirmed the news on LinkedIn:

The go live marks a significant milestone for MEDITECH, who also provide the EPR at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

“A leader in healthcare for women, babies, and families, Liverpool Women’s Hospital is committed to leveraging innovative technology to provide the best outcomes and patient experience,” said Charlotte Scott, executive general manager at MEDITECH UK and Ireland.

“As the first site to go live on MEDITECH Expanse in the United Kingdom, they are making the future of care a reality by deploying a contemporary, web based, mobile EPR that will enhance quality, safety, and efficiency.

“We congratulate Liverpool Women’s and are excited to continue our long-standing and collaborative relationship in this next phase of their digital journey.”
