Yorkshire Ambulance Service go live with Mobile Data and Vehicle SolutionÂ
- 4 May 2023
The NHS Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) has announced that Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust has gone live with the new Mobile Data and Vehicle Solution (MDVS) after a successful pilot phase. Â
Rollout has commenced across the fleet of over 600 Ambulances and response vehicles. This is part of the Ambulance Radio Programmeâs national deployment; a new National Mobilisation Application (which includes Sat Nav functionality) and new hardware accessing both LTE and Airwave networks ensuring critical communications services in the vehicles.
The vehicles will be used throughout all Ambulance Services in England and the Wales Ambulance Service. Â
ARP director Duncan Bray said: âInstallation into operational front-line vehicles is never straight forward; the quality of the technological solutions we deliver to operational crews, the comprehensive level of testing, the end user training are all aspects that need careful consideration, especially whilst minimising the impact on the Trust in delivering patient care.
“This has been a real team effort; our huge thanks go to the team in Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) and our key suppliers in reaching this significant milestone.”
Simon Marsh, chief information officer at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and project sponsor, said: “YAS is proud to be the first to implement the new solution into our ambulance and rapid response vehicle fleet.
“It has been a complex project due to the number of changes we needed to make, including additional functionality in our CAD to accommodate patient and crew safety concerns.
“We have worked closely with the ARP Team, Terrafix, Telent and MIS to deliver this new solution on behalf of UK Ambulance Services.” Â
Next to rollout MDVS will be North West Ambulance, North East Ambulance and Wales Ambulance Service NHS Trusts – all due to commence within the next three months.
