Virtual wards remote care platform contract awarded to Current Health
The NHS cervical cancer screening contract is to be removed from Capita and brought back in house

A contract for a remote care platform worth almost £1million has been awarded to Current Health Limited.

The service contract published by NHS Shared Business Services was awarded on 10 March 2022 and lasts for two years. It began on 1 April 2022 and will end on the same date in 2024.

The total value of the contract is £963,235 and the platform will form part of the NHS’ Virtual Wards Programme.

Current Health have spent years working with leading health systems across the UK supporting home-based care models.

The company created an all-in-one monitoring device that continuously and passively monitors patient health with the same accuracy as an ICU monitor, allowing the sickest patients to receive care at home.

Virtual wards are on the rise across the UK, and the topic attracted a lot of interest at this year’s NHS ConfedExpo in Liverpool. NHS consultants described delivering the 5,000 virtual wards or so in place as “the right thing to do” and gave their top tips and best advice for doing so.
