Lincolnshire trust goes live with online portal from Patients Know Best
- 6 July 2021
Cardiology patients living in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole can now register for a free online portal to view their health records online.
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation trust has gone live with Patients Know Best (PKB), offering online access to personal health records.
Last summer PKB, which is operation in more than 60 hospitals, became the first personal health record to be fully integrated into the NHS app, in a move that meant patients could access all their combined information.
Cardiology patients at the trust will be the first to benefit with access to clinical letters, test results, condition specific information and more from their laptop, tablet or smartphone. It will also provide tools to help patients understand and monitor their own health.
Users will also be able to track their symptoms as well as connect Bluetooth devices to upload data and log key health indicators such as blood pressure, activity and weight.
If the pilot is successful the trust plans to roll the portal out to other specialities later.
Gill Bromby, heart failure specialist nurse,Ā said: āThis is an exciting opportunity for cardiology patients to start to really take control of their own health. By registering for Patients Know Best theyāll be able to monitor and track their own symptoms online, view key clinical information from the hospital and even share this information with other professionals involved in their care.ā
In Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole, cardiology patients will be the first to benefit from the service and if the pilot if successful the trust intents to roll it out to other specialties.
PKB offers online access to personal health records in a bid to improve patient experience and revolutionise the way patients access and use NHS services
