Cambridgeshire and Peterborough starts new EPR journey

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) has gone live with a new electronic patient record (EPR) across its children’s services.
The go live is the first phase of a major digital transformation programme, which is being carried out in partnership with Channel 3 and was completed in a remote working environment during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Launched in 2019, the trust’s digital transformation programme ‘OneVision’ included the need for a single patient record to facilitate better patient care and standardise processes.
A remote implementation was fast-tracked by the trust and Channel 3 after it was realised a single record would be beneficial during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The delivery team was able to design and deliver over 223 virtual training events to trust staff using Microsoft Teams to enable the successful deployment.
Clare Mundell, ‘OneVision’ senior responsible officer and chief pharmacist at the trust, said, “Undertaking a new electronic patient record implementation this year was never going to be easy but we amended our approach to include virtual training, remote support at go-live and increased super-users on the ground. The whole team worked as one to achieve this outcome”.
The rollout of this transformative new EPR to the trust’s remaining services is continuing at pace, with further go-lives planned for December and early 2021.

I am so proud of the collaborative way the blended team pulled together to achieve a successful implementation. We have proven we can do it, and we will continue to collaborate, learn and adapt our approach, continuing to implement even more effectively as we progress with OneVision”.
