Next update on Federated Data Platform expected in autumn

The next update on a multi-million-pound NHS data platform is expected to be published in September.

NHS England published a notice back in April 2022 for a Federated Data Platform which was described as an “essential enabler to transformational improvements” across the NHS and will be an “ecosystem of technologies and services”.

An update to the contract notice states that the next update is due on 5 September 2022. The update also confirms that the value of the contract has risen from £240million to £360million.

The new data platform will be built on five use cases. They include: population health and person insight; care coordination (Integrated Care System); elective recovery; vaccines and immunisation; and supply chain.

Reports in the Financial Times in June 2022 suggested that US software company, Palantir, was the “front-runner” to win the contract, though this has not been confirmed.

Correction: An earlier version of this story stated that the chosen supplier will be selected in September 2022.

  • Am not sure this is correct at all. The article is totally misleading. The ITCD is due to be published early September as part of an open procurement.

Once this has taken place then a preferred supplier will be identified. This process is expected to run until end of December.

    • I think Digital Health need to re-read the updated PIN notice rather than start spreading lies.

  • It’s the repetition of the same failures that kills you in the end. Care.Data again.
