Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has awarded an electronic prescribing and medications administration (ePMA) contract to Dedalus Cloud.
Dedalus’ MedChart system is currently used in over 200 hospitals globally, and the new contract means the trust will have greater accuracy and safer medicine management. Additionally it will enhance operational efficiency and improve resource utilisation.
The solution supports both routine and advanced prescribing. Itâs delivered through the Dedalus Healthcare Cloud Platform and powered by Amazon Web Services.
Dr Doug Simkiss, medical director at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: âThis investment represents the trustâs ongoing commitment to delivering safe, high quality care through our use of technology. As a community healthcare trust, we uniquely interface with numerous settings and services across the region, and see the value that good technology can bring.â
Colin Henderson, regional general manager for Dedalus Group, added: âWe have been very impressed by the wide stakeholder engagement and clinical buy-in received including endorsement of the implementation from the Trustâs Digital Medicines expert Adam Khimji. There has been great enthusiasm and a desire to utilise digital innovations as a means of information access and driving the best outcomes.â
This latest contract award follows Dedalus completing its ÂŁ350million acquisition of DXCâs healthcare provider software business, becoming the most widely-installed NHS hospital software provider.
