The June edition of Movers and Shakers features appointments at Ascom and NHS Digital and a departure at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.


Healthcare ICT and mobile workflow solutions provider Ascom has appointed Sophie Evans as its clinical nurse adviser

Evans, who has a background in surgical and critical care nursing in Wales, will provide specialist clinical advice and support to Ascom UK teams rolling out the companyā€™s integrated mobile solutions across the country.

She was previously a clinical application specialist with Philips.

Paul Lawrence, managing director of Ascom UK, said: ā€œWe are delighted that Sophie has joined us. With her clinical and technical background, she is a vital addition to our UK team. Her experience will be invaluable in helping us to continue adapting our technology to truly meet the needs of clinicians.ā€


Jo Dickson has joined NHS Digital as its chief nurse. The chair of Digital Health’s CNIO Network was most recently clinical informatics director at Nuffield Health and has also been CNIO at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

She said: ā€œIā€™m very excited to be joining NHS Digital, having observed their work during the last year in delivering digital services to support clinicians and citizens during the Covid-19 pandemic.

ā€œIā€™m also looking forward to working in partnership with the national CNIO, Natasha Phillips, and her team to support the delivery and implementation of the digital priorities for nursing and midwifery that are a key part of the wider agenda for Chief Nursing Officers.ā€


VisionableĀ has appointed ChristĆØle Brouste as its chief financial officer and Antony Martin as chief technology officer (CTO).

The British health technology company appointed the pair to further the companyā€™s expansion and innovation, and draw on their expertise to help drive growth in new markets and territories.

Previously group director of finance at Babylon Health, Brouste built and led the financial organisation of the business to ensure strategic, commercial and operational goals were met. Her experience also includes senior roles at both Apple and Cisco, working closely with leadership teams to support business investment and development plans.

Martin has more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and over 20 years working in US-based companies, having held senior technology roles at video communications company Vidyo and cloud solutions provider Dialogic

CEO and co-founder of Visionable, Alan Lowe, said, ā€œChristĆØle and Antonyā€™s experience will be invaluable to Visionable as we enter an exciting next chapter in our growth. Both have a proven ability to grow companies, teams and technologies at a rapid pace which will help us take our video collaboration platform to the next level.

Nadia Kuftinoff has announced on Twitter that she is joining the technology team at Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as its user experience researcher and solutions designer in Autumn. She was previously at Wessex Academic Health and Science Network.


Nick Carver, chief executive of East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust since November 2002, has announced he is stepping down in December 2021. Carver has worked for the NHS for 42 years, first as a porter before qualifying as a nurse and then moving into health service management.

A new chief executive has been appointed at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.

Kevin McGee will take up the role from June 2021. McGee is also the CEO at East Lancashire Hospitals Trust and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. He will replace Karen Partington at Lancashire, who in January announced that she would retire at the end of 2021 after 10 years in the post.


Health data and analytics experts Dr Foster has announced the appointment of David Sharp as the new head of the business.

Sharp will help to drive Telstra Healthā€™s (which bought Dr Foster) ambitions for the health sector in the UK. He was previously senior vice president at Optum where he successfully redesigned the companyā€™s population management initiatives for the NHS market.

Prior to joining Optum, David was chief executive of NHS Derby City and NHS Derbyshire County as well as chief executive and finance director at NHS Nottinghamshire County.
