Alcidion appoints clinical consultant to ensure products meet NHS needs

Health technology provider Alcidion has appointed a nurse to act as clinical consultant to ensure the company’s products meet the needs of the NHS.

Katy Cain joins from East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she was most recently modern matron for the cardiology clinic.

Bringing with her more than 20 years’ experience and a strong background in supporting the adoption of technology, Cain will be working primarily with Alcidion’s UK team.

In her role she will maintain close relationships with clinicians in NHS hospitals to ensure frontline requirements in the UK are proactively fed into Alcidion’s product roadmaps.

“The modern technology that Alcidion is delivering to the NHS and the passion in the company for helping to improve patient care, turned my head. As a healthcare professional, I felt this was the first time I had seen technology that would make a big difference to clinicians and a tech company that really has clinicians at heart,” she said.

“Whether it is using clever technology so staff don’t need to continuously remember hundreds of things, or to free up clinical time at one of the most pressured moments in the history of the health service, by joining Alcidion I felt I could help to make a difference.

“Doctors and nurses no longer have time to work around technology not designed for their needs.”

The appointment comes as Alcidion expands its reach in the UK following the launch of Miya Precision last summer.

Lynette Ousby, UK managing director for Alcidion, said: “Katy adds a great dimension to our team here in the UK and will be instrumental in helping us to listen to the needs of NHS professionals.

“The technologies we provide in the NHS are all about making the right thing the easiest thing to do, having been built and designed by clinicians.”
