£75m tender launched for online and video consultations

A £75million tender for the provision of online and video consultations for the NHS has been published.
A tender notice, published on December 15, revealed the NHS is looking for “suitably experienced and qualified” suppliers to join the Digital First, Online Consultation and Video Consultation (DFOCVC) Framework.
The framework aims to deliver commitments in the NHS Long Term Plan to support online consultation in general practice.
According to the notice the DFOCVC framework will build on a programme which was originally introduced under the GP Forward View and expanded under NHS England’s Dynamic Purchasing system and through digital care services GPIT futures framework.
“In addition to primary care, other health and social care organisations that purchase services via this framework may include, but are not limited to, secondary care providers, community pharmacies, urgent care providers, ambulance trusts, optometry and dentistry providers,” the tender adds.
Successful bidders will be awarded an initial term of 18 months with a maximum end date of 31 March 2024.
This latest tender follows a number which have been published, including an £800 million tender for the provision of digital solutions for NHS Digital and social care and one for clinical communication.
