Digital agency partners with Teenage Cancer Trust to redesign care portal

A Yorkshire-based digital agency has been awarded a contract to design a new and improved digital care portal for young people with cancer.

HMA, which works with clients across the health, science and technology space, will redesign and develop the Teenage Cancer Trust’s integrated assessment mapping (IAM) portal, which helps clinicians understand the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

The care portal will be designed to allow young patients to be active participants in their own care.

This includes facilitating self-management so that patients can care for themselves when treatment has finished.

Jennifer Cheshire, IAM portal national implementation project manager for the Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “We’re excited about the development of the IAM portal, and its potential to further improve the cancer journey for teenagers and young people by making their voices central to their care.”

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing young people with cancer with specialist nursing care and support.

It awarded HMA the contract after a “competitive” tender process and following the agency’s recognition at 2018’s UK Digital Experience Awards.

This comes after a series of contract wins for HMA within the health, science and tech sectors, including its appointment as stem4’s tech partner for a Tech for Good project funded by Comic Relief and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.

Nicola Tiffany, managing director of HMA, said: “We thrive on doing good work with good people, building long-term partnerships to deliver digital experiences that make a difference.  So, we were thrilled when Teenage Cancer Trust chose to work with us.

“There was a great synergy between the two teams from day one as we share common values and views on how a project of this nature should be managed. We can’t wait to see the end result.”
