Hillingdon Hospitals deploys EDMS across emergency department

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has deployed IMMJ Systems’ electronic document management system (EDMS) across its emergency department.

The trust is using the supplier’s MediViewer software to digitise casualty cards, which provide key details on patients admitted to A&E.

Matthew Kybert, deputy CIO at the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The EDMS from IMMJ Systems appealed with its flexibility to integrate seamlessly with our existing app estate through APIs, its web-based functionality and mobility.

“The simple intelligent matching of scanned records also meant less time for staff scanning in CAS cards. We look forward to working with IMMJ Systems and integrating MediViewer with our existing clinical systems”

Electronic document management systems help organisations move away from paper-based records by allowing medical staff to digitally scan, index and share clinical documentation at the point of care.

MediViewer’s open architecture means it can be integrated with other clinical applications, with support for the MESH (message exchange for social care and health) and the MIG (medical interoperability gateway), allowing information to be exchanged with primary care settings.

This means it can be linked with hospital patient record systems as well as services like NHS eReferrals, helping build a more complete overview of a patient’s medical records.

The deployment of MediViewer at Hillingdon Hospitals was described as “a key project for IMMJ Systems”, which recently rolled out its EDMS at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Jamie Hall, the supplier’s head of sales, said: “The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has a clear and well-defined vision on their digital transformation journey.

“Whilst initially starting in the emergency department, we are supporting the trust around what an enterprise wide model will look like.

“No two Trusts are the same, which is why MediViewer has been built specifically for healthcare providers and is designed around the needs of each individual trust.”
