Servelec and Microtest have have integrated their respective clinical systems in an effort to improve data sharing between primary care and community mental health services.

From Autumn, health and care providers using Servelec RiO electronic patient record (EPR) will be able to access relevant clinical information from GP practices running Microtest’s Open Evolution system.

Chris Netherton, managing director of Microtest, said the tie-up demonstrated the suppliers’ joint ambition “to lead the way in interoperability in the healthcare market.”

Servelec RiO is an electronic record used commonly within mental health, community health and child health care settings.

Through the integration with Open Evolution, it will provide users with secure access to clinical information held in Microtest’s GP system. Meanwhile, GP practices using Open Evolution will be able to access e-referral, e-discharge notices and care summaries from Servelec’s RiO system.

A further integration of Open Evolution with Servelec’s social care case management system, Mosaic, is pegged to follow.

According to Servelec, its RiO EPR is used by more than 100,000 healthcare practitioners.

In January, the vendor launched a joint solution with Totalmobile that allows clinicians to access patient records via a mobile device.

Citing data published in July by Digital Health Intelligence, Neil Laycock, managing director of Servelec’s healthcare business, said: “Interoperability was recently cited as the number one priority for 82% of NHS IT leaders.

“We are therefore delighted that the work has been completed on this exciting new integration with Microtest as further evidence of Servelec delivering on our aspiration to be the most customer-focused and interoperable vendor in the market place.

“We also look forward to working closely with Microtest to expand our integrated solutions across social care and GP systems.”

Having historically provided for GPs in England, Microtest recently announced that 111 Welsh GP practices would migrate to the company’s Open Evolution system in 2019.

Netherton said: “With Microtest long having been a champion of integration, it is exciting to find a business partner like Servelec which shares our determination to provide fully joined-up healthcare to our customers for the benefit of both patients and clinicians.”

  • Thanks, I’d assumed it was conexes. It does say that’s FHIR (which is what I was after with Mosaic to connect it to a health and social care portal).

  • Hi Mrs T,

At Servelec we have leveraged the power of our new Conexes integration platform to enable communication between the products. This gives us the flexibility to meet a wide range of interoperability needs rapidly using industry standard API mechanisms. The Conexes platform will be launched at our RiO user group on 20 September 2018.

  • Would servelec comment on how this has been done? For example: is it a simple REST api on a couple of key resources.
I think I’ve asked for something like this over the past years (on RiO and Mosaic)… (If it’s been done then AWESOME! )
