Thames Hospice choose Docman Connect to reform correspondence with GPs

Thames Hospice has become the first hospice to choose Docman Connect to digitise its transfer of clinical correspondence.

The charity, which cares for people living with life-limiting illnesses in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire, sends correspondence to GPs in cases such as a patient moving to a care home.

Docman Connect will provides a digital platform to manage millions of documents exchanged each day between providers.

Furthermore, in a bid to reduce costs, the project will also see approximately 3,000 documents concerning 5,000 patients now being digital.

Yorkshire IT group enters administration

A Leeds-based technology business which has previously provided IT support for the NHS has entered administration.

Walsh Taylor was appointed to deal with the administration of LDD Group Limited on 19 April.

Under its stewardship, LDD Group Ltd is continuing to trade while a buyer to secure its long-term future is found.

Walsh Taylor director, Mary Taylor, said: “Our initial focus of the administration is to engage with parties who may be interested in acquiring this well-known business in the sector.

“The priority is very much to sell the company as a viable going concern, safeguarding its future, and retaining as many jobs as possible.

“LDD Group is a family business with a good name, a proven track record, and a national customer base spanning around 30 contracts – particularly in the education and health sectors.

“Unfortunately, after the ill health of one of its directors – and the unforeseen impact this has naturally caused – the directors felt they were not in a position to carry on themselves.”

Solution to support Sustainability Transformation Partnerships launched

A new solution which helps support Sustainability Transformation Partnerships (STPs) has been launched.

The Viper360 Presentation Layer from ReStart Consulting helps link up electronic patient records and clinical portals, building towards a full shared care record.

Felim McCarthy, senior clinical consultant at ReStart Consulting, said: “Clinicians and carers are tired and frustrated with the over-promises of how IT systems can benefit them.

“They want better access and the ability to update patient information in real-time on the device of their choosing, and they want it now. Reducing risk to patient safety is a huge benefit to clinicians.

“The Presentation Layer means they don’t have to keep logging in and re-writing the same patient information into different systems.”
