Ambulance trust selects Docman to streamline GP correspondence
- 24 April 2018
South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) has selected Docman Connect to help streamline its transfer of electronic clinical correspondence to GPs.
SECAmb is responsible for responding to calls from the public across Brighton and Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent, Surrey and North East Hampshire.
It also provides 111 services.
In the instance of a patient not requiring transport to hospital, SECAmb may need to notify their GP to let them know they have been called out as well as pass on information such as follow-up checks required.
Docman Connect will allow the ambulance service to streamline the transfer of documents sent to GP surgeries, resulting in reducing the current strain on administrative resources, increase information governance and improve patient safety.
Tom Pullen, clinical lead for care planning and patient record systems at SECAmb, said: âour current process sees documents being delivered via NHS mail, which requires unnecessary administrative support and provides no audit trail.
âDocman Connect will deliver documents to thousands of GP practices across the region and automatically pull out data contained within the document â reducing administration time and providing full auditability to track every stage of the transfer.â
In a separate story, in March 2018, Digital Health News reported that medical software consultancy, MDSAS, chose Docman Connect to deliver medical correspondence to clinical practices.
Docman is due to be piloted with nine practices in NHS Stockport CCG before expanding to a further 47 practices.
