Mental health trust partners with ANS Group for new network solution

Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has contracted for a new network solution and fully managed service, with a view to supporting greater levels of digitisation.

Specialist cloud and managed services provider ANS Group is providing the mental health trust with a Cisco local area network (LAN) solution. The trust has also signed a fully managed service contract with the firm, worth in excess of half a million pounds.

It is hoped the new deal will support greater digitisation across the organisation, including the more efficient delivery of remote patient care and improved scheduling.

David Wyndham-Lewis, director of transformation and technology at the trust, said: “As a rapidly growing trust, we quickly identified the need to invest in state-of-the-art network infrastructure, in order to future-proof our operations and provide the best possible service to our patients and students.

“We tendered so that we could be confident that we were partnering with a specialist consultant,” he added.

Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is not the only trust which has been undergoing a digital upgrade.

Last month, Digital Health News reported on how clinicians at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have started using mobile electronic devices to record patient observations.

Around 500 members of staff on medical and surgical wards across can now use mobile devices to record patient observations rather than writing them on paper charts, following the go live of System C’s vitals e-observations software.
