NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands secure multi-million pound contract
NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit has won a North West data management deal.

A Commissioning Support Unit (CSU) has won a multi-million pound contract to provide services to five Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Norfolk and Waveney.

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands CSU was awarded the four-year contract which is worth £32 million.

It will cover key services to support the five CCGs, who serve a total population of more than one million, from 1 April 2018.

The appointment was based on the CSU’s successful track record in developing strategic partnerships that enable collaborative working and approaches.

The service provision will fall into two areas; end to end commissioning support including business intelligence, procurement and provider management, finance, human resources, information governance and freedom of information and IT support including GP and corporate IT.

John Parkes, manging director of NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands CSU, said: “We are delighted to have secured this opportunity to work alongside Norfolk and Waveney CCGs.”

“Our team is looking forward to working with the CCGs and our aim will be to ‘add value’ by providing high quality, flexible and responsive commissioning support services,” Parkes added.

The current provider of services, North East London (NEL) Commissioning Support Unit, will be working closely with Arden and Greater East Midlands to ensure a smooth transition, for both CCGs and affected staff.

A competitive tender process was delivered by the NHS England Lead Provider Framework (LPF), conducted by North Norfolk, South Norfolk, West Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, and Norwich CCGs.

NHS Arden and Greater Midlands CSU provides a range of commissioning support services including service transformation, business intelligence, procurement and contracting, business support and clinical support.

Clients include more than 50 CCGs, NHS England, and local authorities.

In 2015 the CSU won a multi-million pound data deal to provide data management services for a group of 24 clinical commissioning groups in the North West of England.
