Theatres and intensive care clinical software specialist iMDsoft has been bought by Canadian firm Harris Computer Corporation, an arm of the Constellation Software Group.

Financial terms of the deal, announced last week, were not disclosed.  Harris said iMDsoft will be run as an independent business unit.

Specialising in software that supports high acuity care, iMDsoft’s flagship product is MetaVision, designed for high acuity environments.

The software generates complete high acuity electronic patient records and provides hospitals with advanced tools for clinical workflow management and documentation, clinical assessment, care planning and decision support.

MetaVision uses a single platform to automate workflows in a variety of environments, including intensive care, pre-op, anesthesia, step-down units and general in-patient beds.

According to data from the Digital Health Intelligence NHS IT Database, Metavision is currently installed at 19 English NHS trusts.

In total some 350 hospitals worldwide are said to use iMDsoft’s technology.  The deal will provide Harris with a significant international footprint and sales distribution network.

“Harris and iMDsoft share the same goals – enhancing quality of care for patients and improving the financial performance of the hospital,” Jeff Bender, chief executive officer of Harris in a statement.

Harris Computer Corporation is not linked Harris Healthcare Solutions, which was acquired by NantHealth in July 2015.
