Hicom and Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Electronic Care Record is interfacing with Hicom, allowing it to be populated with data captured through each of the country’s five trusts’ diabetes information management systems, which use Diamond.NET. Interfaces for the country’s paediatric diabetes solutions, Twinkle.NET are also in the process of being deployed. Data captured through the diabetes systems is automatically transmitted to NIECR through standard clinical correspondence processes that follow outpatient appointments.

Hitachi partners with Royal Cornwall Hospitals

Hitachi Data Systems is the new strategic technology partner for Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, having recently supported it to implement a new private cloud solution. The trust is working on digitising its patient records and clinical imaging and needed new infrastructure to support this growth in data. The trust can now support its three acute hospitals and 12 community hospitals throughout Cornwall as well as numerous community healthcare providers and GPs.

University Hospital of South Manchester implements EuroKing

The Maternity Department at University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust has chosen EuroKing’s Maternity Information System. Paper has been the department’s primary system for recording patient information with the electronic system was used as a backup, but it will now use EuroKing as its primary system, which will integrate with the trust’s new electronic patient record system. As part of its drive to reduce paper, the department is looking to stop using the birth book later in 2016 and will record all statistics on the system. 

StrokePad at UCLH

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Hyper Acute Stroke Unit is using a tablet-based clinical record for stroke patients. StrokePad is a joint venture between UCLH and 6PM and its development has been supported by awards from the North Central London Cardiovascular and Stroke Network and the UCL Biomedical Research Centre. Technology overhaul at Leeds & York Partnership

Leeds & York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has partnered with technology provider ANS for a network and security refresh. The investment will provide a secure, scalable and wireless upgrade alongside Cisco’s Identity Services Engine which will provide the organisation with increased mobility and security across its 45 sites throughout West Yorkshire.

Leicester Hospitals track commercial visitors

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is using the Reptrax SECURE service from IntelliCentrics UK to track commercial visitors. The trust says there had been anxiety about commercial visitors going into restricted areas like theatres and whether they knew what was meant by safe practice. Using the new system, the trust is more confident about who is visiting, how long they will be and which areas they are allowed to access.

Sheffield produces patient leaflets online

Interlagos has worked with Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on developing Patient Information Publishing Software that allows the trust to produce and manage over 1600 patient leaflets with just two patient information administrators.  A new joint venture with Health and Care Videos, a trading arm of Torbay and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, also allows access to audiovisual input to a printed patient information leaflet.
