Neova Health releases open-eObs code
- 1 July 2014
Neova Health has released the code for its open source nursing observations system, with more modules to be put online soon.
The open-eObs system is one of 11 products listed in an open source ācatalogueā for the second round of bids to NHS Englandās technology fund.
The observations and clinical assessment platform offers a real-time view of all patients across a ward.
Neova Health director Rob Dyke told EHI the code, released on GitHub, includes all the core components needed for a trust-wide deployment, including a National Early Warning Score module for bedside observations.
āThis builds on the expertise and experience that we have in providing and supporting open source,ā he said.
Dyke said the software includes views for the information, from bedside to ward management, bed management, hospital at night, handover and escalation between clinical teams.
Dyke said the company is working with Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust on a patient list and risk management system for its A&E department and emergency assessment units.
It is also developing a nursing task management system for Lister Hospital at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, with the trust using funding from the Nurse Technology Fund.
Dyke said Neova Health has partnered with Dakota Integrated Solutions and MioCare to provide a āfully managedā deployment solution and address trustsā concerns about working with open source through a small company.
āWe want to de-risk working with an open source project, and working with a small company by ensuring trusts can procure through a big company and get fully managed solutions.
āItās perceived as a risk even though we know itās not ā there are risks, but theyāre no different from any other product.ā
Dyke said more modules for the system will be released over the next few weeks. Bidding to the second round of the tech fund, now called the Integrated Digital Care Technology Fund, close on 14 July.
