NHS CB appoints director of data
Ming Tang

The NHS Commissioning Board has appointed Ming Tang as director of data and information management systems.

A statement from the board said Tang will put a programme of work in place to ensure the 22 NHS commissioning support units become successful independent organisations.

CSUs will be operational from April, providing IT support for the new clinical commissioning groups including business intelligence and IM&T services.

Formerly the managing director of NHS South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw CSU, Tang’s role is to “oversee the monitoring and quality assurance of CSUs, ensure they develop high quality strategic plans for data management and integration of services”.

Part of this work will focus on identifying key data and information management needs relating to the development of the units, the statement said.

“Tang will also be responsible for embedding patient and public involvement into the NHS CB’s decision making and practice at all levels and will contribute to the management of working relationships between the NHS CB and CSUs,” it added.

Tang commented: “The NHS is undergoing revolutionary changes at the moment and I am delighted to be part of it.

“I am passionate about providing the best possible NHS for patients and the public and I believe the structures which are now being put in place will do that.”
