EHealth Insider diary,

Last week, the diary asked for nominations for "pantomime villain of the year" and Michael Lysons came through in style: "It has to be Lorenzo," he emails. "I can see it now… in a crowded theatre full of screaming NHS heads of IT.

‘It’s behind you!’ they yell at their finance directors. The FDs turn; hoping to see this mythical Lorenzo beast approaching with all the purpose and accuracy of a release date. ‘Oh, no it isn’t!’ the FDs shout back, because Lorenzo has magically disappeared without trace.

Then, after another round of hastily signed contracts, Lorenzo reappears – a little slimmer, perhaps. ‘It’s behind you!’ the heads of IT roar. Again, the FDs turn… ‘Oh, no it isn’t!’ they say. ‘No, they’re right, it’s nowhere,’ the defeated heads of IT say, hanging their heads before realising that they are free and can finally pursue systems that a) exist, and b) work. Happy Ending after all!"
