This special edition of the E-Health Europe industry round-up covers some of the announcements made at Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) exhibition and conference in Atlanta this week.
ISoft enters US market
ISoft has announced that it will enter the North American market and showcased its product portfolio at HIMSS10. The company focused on solutions designed to address the requirements for ‘meaningful use’ under the US government’s US$34 billion health IT stimulus package.
ISoft partners with Lumetra
ISoft has also formed a strategic partnership with US government-backed patient safety organisation, Lumetra, to distribute its AIMS incident management software. Under the agreement, Lumetra will market, support and distribute the system, which provides an integrated electronic solution for collecting, tracking, reporting, and managing patient safety activity. The software is used by hospitals in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
Cisco Launches HealthPresence telemedicine Solution
Cisco has announced the availability of its HealthPresence platform in Europe, Canada and the US. The system allows patients to connect with doctors and clinicians using video and medical devices by integrating two solutions, Cisco TelePresence and Cisco Unified Communications.
Patients can have consultations with several caregivers at once and transmit vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature and oxygen levels.
UPMC brings EHR to BlackBerry
UPMC has announced that it has developed its first electronic health record application for BlackBerry smartphones. The pilot project gives physicians access to information including a patient’s allergies, current medications and recently completed lab tests at the bedside. The solution uses dbMotion’s interoperability platform to provide clinicians with a single, comprehensive view of key patient data without replacing existing information systems.
Motion announces First Annual Excellence in Mobile Point of Care Award
Motion Computing has announced that the first annual Motion Excellence in Mobile Point of Care Award has been awarded to St John’s Hospital in Springfield, US. The hospital has been using Motion C5 mobile clinical assistants since 2008. More than 600 C5s are now in use and the hospital has seen an increase in bedside patient scans from 20% to 97% – leading to improved data quality.
