Southend signs CIS Oncology deal

  • 15 February 2010

CIS Oncology has been awarded a contract to provide Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with an oncology pharmacy dispensing system for its new oncology day centre, which is due to open later this year.

The tender was for a dispensing system that would incorporate software to provide patient and regime level drug data capture, drug tracking and drug management information.

It also said the system should also be able to link to the trust’s patient administration system and the JAC pharmacy computer system.

The trust selected ChemoCare, which will include the company’s new ChemoSchedule module and support all aspects of chemotherapy dispensing activities.

The system will initially be used for the oncology pharmacy but has the potential to be extended into prescribing and management of all aspects of oncology chemotherapy.

Jo Middleton, service development pharmacist at the trust said: “We are pleased to be working with CIS and are confident that the system will allow us to efficiently manage our expanding chemotherapy service from patient referral and treatment scheduling to the preparation and administration of chemotherapy drugs.”

Tony Pegg, chief executive officer of CIS Oncology said: “We have worked closely with the trust to tailor our implementation approach to align with its tight timescales for the opening of the new Oncology Day Centre. We look forward to continuing this mutually successful relationship.”
