Health 2.0 comes to Europe

  • 10 February 2010

The first European Health 2.0 conference, on how web 2.0 and social media are transforming healthcare systems in Europe, will be held in Paris this spring.

The two day event, which will take place on 6-7 April, is being organised by Health 2.0 of San Franciso and Basil Strategies of Paris.

The event, which is already in its fifth year in America, is expected to attract more than 500 people from patients and physicians to mobile tool providers, hospitals, insurance and members of government from ten European countries.

The event will focus on whether Health 2.0 differs across European countries, whether doctors are using 2.0 and if personal health records are being adopted by healthcare systems across Europe.

The conference will also compare, contract and contextualise current European Health 2.0 systems with those being used in the US.

Keynote speakers at the conference will include senior healthcare policy makers Etienne Caniard from the French National Authority for Health and Pieter Vos from the Dutch Council for Public Health and Health Care, who will discuss Health 2.0 from a government view point and how it fits in with national IT strategies.

Denise Silber, president of Basil Strategies and one of the organisers of the event said: “E-health is one of the most important business sectors in Europe today.

“Health 2.0 Europe integrates the Web 2.0 user-generated content concept with a number of aspects of health that are fundamentally different in Europe than in the U.S. It is therefore crucial to address the local industry with local actors from European countries, and we are thrilled by the number of partners who are already enthusiastically supporting this event.”

The event with also have an exhibition and launch session where companies will showcase new Health 2.0 technologies.
