FASS up to 100,000 telecare deployments

  • 1 July 2009

The biggest monitoring centre for telecare alarms in mainland Europe has announced its 100,000th telecare deployment.

The Fundacion Andaluza de Servicios Sociales of the Junta de Andalucia, which has 99 operator stations in Seville and 55 in Malaga, has installed telecare solutions across its region, working with Tunstall Healthcare.

Over the past year, the two control centres have handled more than 3 million calls from service users, via state of the art PNC5 monitoring software.

The centres support elderly people and those with long-term conditions, and can provide users with health information, details of local pharmacies and local transport, and access to a doctor.

Pedro Rodrigues Delgado, managing director of FASS, said the 100,000th deployment milestone showed that telecare technology met the needs of community-based health.

“It keeps people where they want to be, in the familiarity of the home environment, while making the best use of available resources,” he said.

FASS is a non-profit body, linked to the Ministry for Equality and Social Welfare of the Autonomous Government of Andalucia, which promotes, develops and manages resources for social care.

It is also one of 12 companies participating in the European CommonWell project, which is focused on independent living for older people, integrating health and social care, and finding economically efficient ICT to support these aims.

Tunstall Healthcare Group now supports more than 2.5 million telehealthcare users globally.
