Clinical Solutions gets a Mentor

Clinical Solutions has signed a three year deal with primary care IT supplier EMIS to integrate EMIS’s Mentor drug database into its decision support software.

The deal means the Mentor Drug Database Module will be integrated into Clinical Solutions’ IntefleCS Face to Face software, providing access for clinicians working in urgent care centres, walk-in centres and minor injury units.

Clinical Solutions said the Mentor database would support the implementation of electronic prescribing. It will also provide clinicians with information on contraindications and indications to promote patient safety and minimise the risk of adverse drug incidents. And it will provide access to improved prescribing documentation for clinical audit and reporting purposes.

Chris Jones, commercial manager for Mentor, said: “By providing support for diagnosis, drug selection and prescribing, the integration of our Mentor Drug Database Module with the Clinical Solutions application will help increase productivity and promote cost effectiveness within an urgent care setting.”

Clinical Solutions said its customers will be able to upgrade to the integrated application following the forthcoming release of its urgent care product InteflecCS Face to Face, assessment and consultation software designed specifically for in-person encounters.

Richard Craven, director at Clinical Solutions, added: “The availability of a drug database, already used by the majority of UK GPs, offers potential for better integration and information sharing in line with national objectives. Ultimately this will help improve patient safety by providing a fuller context in which to make decisions about a patient’s treatment.”
