Three London trusts automate medical supply systems

Omnicell and its UK distributor Aventec have announced that two London foundation trusts have jointly selected OmniSupplier cabinet systems to improve their management of medical and surgical supplies. Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals and King’s College Hospital NHS foundation trusts are planning to put the £10m contract at the heart of a project to revolutionise their supply chains. The trusts hope to deliver benefits for clinical staff, improve patient safety by making it easier for clinicians to handle clinical and other supplies, and improve cost control. The first systems will go live in November.

Association of Directors of Adult Social Services signs agreement with Tunstall

The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services has signed a new partnership agreement with Tunstall. The agreement for 2009 was officially signed at the ADASS’ conference in Liverpool, and will encourage the development and implementation of telehealthcare services across England. Tunstall will work with social care professionals on a range of activities to integrate telehealthcare into services that promote recovery, independence, health and well-being across a range of specialties.

CEGEDIM Group develops end to end EPS solution

CEGEDIM Group, which includes Cegedim Rx, a supplier of pharmacy solutions and services, and INPS, supplier of the Vision clinical system, has described how it has been working to support the Electronic Prescription Service Release 2, which will allow patients to pick up prescriptions from designated pharmacies. It has been working with users to design safe and effective software for the new release and is now planning EPS Release 2 deployment programmes.

RX Systems announces launch of ScriptPoS in New Year

RX Systems has announced that its new, point of sale solution for pharmacy – ScriptPoS – will be launched early next year. ScriptPoS is delivered as a managed software service accessed through an internet browser that transmits data to and from a secure, centrally hosted database in “real time.” The company claims this eliminates many of the updating and reporting problems experienced with locally-based EPoS systems, making it easier to manage product files and price changes.

Medstamp Reporter 2 with enhanced features from TalkingPoint

Medstamp and GHG Software Developments Ltd have integrated TalkingPoint for Radiology and Medstamp Reporter to provide a speech recognition solution for teleradiology. This will be released shortly with Medstamp Reporter 2. Using TalkingPoint, radiologists can produce fully featured reports without being keyboard-bound, as reports can be dictated at normal talking pace, improving workflow rates.

Plain Healthcare re-organises to support further expansion

Plain Healthcare is restructuring to create capacity for expansion and strengthen its global sales and marketing. Chair Barry Giddings said the company will put more focus on delivering its clinical decision support software, Odyssey, and support services. Tim Morris will take on the role of product development director, John Kendall will become sales director for UK healthcare, and Chris Coyne will be in charge of marketing and international sales.
