Six trusts win awards for safety and quality

Healthcare intelligence specialists CHKS Group has presented six NHS trusts across Great Britain with awards recognising outstanding achievement in patient safety, quality of care and data quality.

Four trusts across Britain were awarded for excellence in clinical coding – East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust for England, NHS Tayside for Scotland, Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust for Wales and Belfast Health and Social Care Trust for Northern Ireland.

Additionally, Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust took away an award for outstanding performance in providing a safe hospital environment, and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was rewarded for providing the right level of care to patients according to their diagnosis.

James Coles, director of research at CHKS Group, said: “Patient safety, quality of care and data quality are all crucial to the delivery of good healthcare.”

In addition, CHKS Group made awards to 40 English and Welsh hospital trusts named from its client base, based on the evaluation of 20 key performance indicators covering clinical effectiveness, health outcomes, efficiency, patient experience and quality of care.

In Europe, Sygehus Sønderjylland, Denmark, received the Quality Improvement Award for making significant advancements in patient care and patient experience as well as staff welfare, safety and morale.

Coles added: “Alongside our 40 Top Awards, our new awards are designed to celebrate excellence and highlight those outstanding hospitals in each of these three areas.”
