OLM and Social Software partner on social care

  • 6 February 2008

Social care system specialists OLM Group and Social Software have partnered to develop a new integrated solution covering children’s social care, youth justice and court systems.

The companies have piloted their new solution in the London Borough of Newham and claim that the joined-up approach facilitates a holistic view of each child’s record.

“By integrating services, children’s needs are addressed earlier and more effectively as case workers within the London Borough of Newham are now able to obtain information quicker than before,” a statement says.

The solution is intended to meet guidelines laid out in the government’s Integrated Working Strategy, which calls for integrated working in order to improve outcomes for children and young people.

OLM Group chief executive, Peter O’Hara, said: “Integrated working focuses on enabling and encouraging professionals to work together effectively to deliver frontline services. The combined skills and expertise of OLM Group and Social Software means that local authorities can now make decisions more confidently based on accessible information from separate systems – an invaluable function.”

Social Software’s managing director, Marc Rasley, added: “The adoption of a multi-agency approach will help to change the way that services in local authorities are delivered, shifting the focus from dealing with the consequences of difficulties in children’s lives to prevention.

“The solution that OLM Group and Social Software deliver, helps to ensure that every child and young person receives the support needed to maximise their potential.”

The system will also interface with OLM Group’s Integrated Children’s System (ICS) solution, which recently achieved full Department for Children, Schools and Families phase 1b compliance status.

Phase 1b compliance enables local authorities to implement a compliant solution in accordance with the DCSF’s 31 March 2008 deadline, as part of the government’s Every Child Matters agenda.
