EMIS ahead of CfH GP2GP monthly targets

EMIS is ahead of Connecting for Health’s target of having 988 practices trained and installed with GP2GP v1.1 by the end of September 2007, the company has revealed.
Version 1.1, allows two way transfers between different systems, and has been piloted by EMIS and INPS practices in Croydon since March.
The GP systems supplier now has 1557 practices using GP2GP systems and at the end of lat month, 992 of them were on v1.1 – just over the target set by CfH earlier this year.
The remaining 565 practices currently using v1.0 will be upgraded over the coming months, at the same time as the ongoing roll-out to new practices.
EMIS’s healthcare managing director, Sean Riddell, said: “This is fantastic news and a positive result for both GPs and patients. To have achieved such progress is a testament to the hard work of our operations teams across the country, who are pulling out all the stops on this project.”
By the end of December 2007, the company hopes to have deployed GP2GP v1.1 to more than 2,300 practices – 46% of EMIS practices in England.
At present, the rollout is averaging almost 300 practices per month. Riddell says the advantages can be seen by practices that already have the v1.1. system.
“A large number of GP practices are now able to transfer records electronically between the two major clinical system suppliers in the UK. This offers major practical and clinical advantages.”
Connecting for Health hopes to rollout its GP2GP record transfer project to every practice in England by the end of next year, according to GP representatives.
