Rhapsody installed by three NHS trusts

Orion Health Limited, a specialist in integration and workflow technology in healthcare, has said that its Rhapsody integration engine has been adopted by three NHS trusts over the past three months.
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt (RJAH) Orthopaedic and District Hospital NHS Trust have both installed Rhapsody to use as an internal trust integration engine to link up existing systems.
In addition, Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust has recently completed deployment of Rhapsody to interface with Connecting for Health systems supplied by their local service provider, Computer Sciences Corporation.
Orion says the three acute Trusts together cover seven hospital sites, 11,300 staff and more than one million patients.
"Within our facilities, we plan to use Rhapsody to connect multiple hospital systems, including PAS, pathology, PACS, pharmacy and radiology," explained Salim Badat, IMT Programme Manager at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust has implemented Rhapsody to provide inter-system messaging across key clinical systems including its CSC-supplied iSoft iPM Patient Administration System, CRIS Radiology, results reporting, pathology and local clinical databases. Rhapsody is currently processing 6,500 PAS messages daily in Northampton.
RJAH is using Rhapsody to transfer radiology reports from their newly implemented Radiology Information System (RIS) to local GPs and into the Trust’s Graphnet Electronic Patient Record.
Simon Philpott, director UK and Ireland for Orion Health, said: "Delivery timeframes for Connecting for Health systems remain uncertain, and we see NHS trusts increasingly looking for tools that help them with their immediate integration needs, both for internal ICT projects and National Programme initiatives."
He said the Rhapsody Integration Engine "puts control of interfacing back into the hands of the Trusts", allowing them to comply with the requirements of CfH while achieving their local ICT goals.
