1000 Vision practices using Choose and Book

Primary Care IT specialists INPS are celebrating reaching 1000 GP practices using their Vision clinical system connected to Choose and Book to refer patients for specialist care.

The INPS Vision system is used by 20 percent of English GP practices and includes software allowing GPs to use Choose and Book on the system, as opposed to the web based version of the system.

A spokesperson for INPS told EHI Primary Care: “We are working with trusts as per the framework agreement we have set up with Connecting for Health. C+B has been rolled out to the vast majority all INPS sites. Generally this has gone extremely well.

Over 1000 practices have now successfully completed configuration and training processes and are able to offer Choose and Book to their patients. INPS is now working towards having all its practices able to use the system through their Vision software by the end of the year.

The spokesperson added: "“It can take up to ten days to organise and test the end point registration. The number of engineering days varies between practices and is dependent on the number of workstations at the practice. Each practice receives a full training day on Choose and Book and we are aiming for 95% finished by 31 December.”

INPS managing director, Max Brighton said: “We are delighted to have played a critical role in the successful implementation to date of Choose and Book. This demonstrates the commitment INPS has to its customers, to NHS Connecting for Health and to the successful deployment of the new services.”

CfH say they are pleased with INPS’ progress and hope to see further implementation progress of Choose and Book.

Tom Denwood, Choose and Book programme head at CfH said: “We have been impressed by the commitment and flexibility INPS has shown in working proactively to deliver Choose and Book integrated systems in primary care. Having deployed Choose and Book to over 1,000 practices has meant that GPs are able to use Choose and Book in one of the ways they requested – through their own clinical system."

Denwood: “We look forward to working with INPS as they roll-out to their remaining sites, and in the future as we plan to integrate Vision and Choose and Book more closely – again responding to GPs requests.”
