Oasis chosen by Dudley as preferred PAS application

  • 12 June 2006

Dudley Hospital NHS Trust and Siemens Medical Solutions have selected Capula Healthcare to supply and implement its Oasis Patient Administration System (PAS), as part of the ongoing Private Finance Initiative project at the trust.

Siemens has worked with Dudley under a PFI deal for four years to provide new IT systems and digital imaging. The trust is Siemens’ NHS reference site for its Soarian clinical and electronic patient record system.

Key criteria for the trust in selecting a replacement PAS system were whether it met the stringent requirements to be an NHS Connecting for Health compliant system and that the PAS must be capable of interfacing with Siemen’s Soarian Clinical System which is installed throughout the Trust.

Marcus Mellor, business director at Capula Healthcare, commented: “Capula Healthcare is delighted that its Oasis system has been selected as the PAS at Dudley Hospital NHS Trust. We are looking forward to working with Siemens Medical Solutions and becoming a key component of the IT Healthcare strategy within the project at Dudley”.

The Oasis applications that will be delivered as part of the implementation strategy are the Oasis PAS, A&E and Maternity functionality.

Version seven of the Oasis PAS system will be implemented at the Trust, which is capable of being deployed when required as a fully functional Web application – highlighting Capula Healthcare’s continuing commitment by ensuring the Oasis system remains a state-of-the-art application.

Garry Marshall, IT services manager at Siemens Medical Solutions said, “Siemens has an excellent working relationship with Dudley Hospital NHS Trust and we are certain the Trust will see the benefit of using Capula Healthcare’s leading Oasis PAS System.”

The Oasis system will be implemented by Capula Healthcare’s professional services team, who will work closely with Siemens at the Trust to ensure the system goes live during 2006.
