Read codes and rules for revised QOF issued

Read codes and business rules for the revised Quality and Outcomes Framework have been published.

The final version of the codes and rules was approved last week and cover all the changes to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) from April. The framework was amended as part of the renegotiated nGMS contract with 168 points redistributed, mostly focusing on new areas of work including dementia, depression, chronic kidney disease, atrial fibrallation, and pallaitive care.

The British Medical Association’s General Practitioner Committee told local medical committees in its monthly newsletter this week that the QoF payment software, the Quality and Management Analysis System, will not be updated until at least August.

The newsletter adds: "Additionally it is not known how quickly the suppliers will upgrade their own software and this may be determined by how much pressure is applied from practices."

A spokesperson for NHS Connecting for Health told EHI Primary Care that work on the QMAS changes would begin following publication of the QoF business rules and Read codes.

He added: "QMAS will be updated to take account of these changes and this work will be completed in the autumn."
