Ascribe recruits former Torex CEO

Manchester-based pharmacy and electronic prescribing systems supplier Ascribe has appointed former Torex Health chief executive Steve Garrington as its commercial director to launch its web-based clinical software.

Ascribe says that its suite of pharmacy software has already won over 50 per cent share of the UK market while its electronic prescribing solutions have been adopted in both UK and overseas markets.

The firm has spent the last two years developing its Integrated Clinical Workstation or ICW software, which gives healthcare professionals a comprehensive and highly accessible view of patient information.  The ICW software is currently being used at Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in Dewsbury.

Stephen Critchlow, Ascribe’s chief executive said: "This is a fast-growing and highly specialised marketplace, where track record and cost-efficiency are critical.

“Steve Garrington’s appointment is a major step forward as we continue our growth and tap into new markets. He has an enormous amount of expertise and market knowledge and will be a major asset to the business. This is an exciting time for Steve and everyone at Ascribe."

Ascribe was founded by Stephen Critchlow, a former NHS pharmacist, and Dr Chris Jones in 1984 to help healthcare professionals overcome difficulties in handling clinical information.  The company says its software is now used in more than 300 sites worldwide.
